Dear all, Purposely I have steered clear of commenting on this forum with regards to Ben’s comments because I do not believe that this is the best way to discuss and resolve some of these issue’s, however we live in a state of free speech and Ben obviously felt it necessary that he needed to be heard by the readership of the forum, for this we need to respect his views. All I ask is that we leave it now. Enough has been said and it is correct the whole world can read this, if anyone feels it necessary to continue this debate, then please join us at the club on Sunday lunchtime and lets discuss it over a pint, whilst spending a bit over OUR bar during what is a very difficult part of the year for the club. The meat raffle will return from this Sunday and carry on throughout the summer, we will also be getting the BBQ out (bring your own food) and will be doing a few summer games, like rounders, cricket, etc. We are also planning a Mixed Touch Rugby Tournament, details to follow. The club is open from 12 noon every Sunday throughout the summer, like I said it is a very difficult period for the club and we need as much support as we can get, so please come up for a pint or two!! Hopefully see you on Sunday for the Return of the Meat Raffle!! Regards Seedy

Congrats on what looks like a good playing season. Hope the club dinner was a good night! I understand that the M & J presentation day was a good day. Well done to Jordan and ED on their under 13's awards. The junour presentations at Sam's new club (Totnes RFC) took place on a Friday evening with a few drinks afterwards. Not quite up to your standards but a good night anywway. It was good to host the Under 13's on their recent tour to Totnes & Salcombe and hopefully Totnes under 14's (next season) may well be going on their first tour next season. I will try to get them to come to R & H. I'm up in June for Ben & Emma wedding and hopefully will get up the club on Sunday Lunch for a while before driving home. Our new clubs (me and Sam) is Totnes RFC who like you guys have just won promotion and lost by six points in the Devon Junior club. On a slightly lower note, remember the message board is viewed by other local clubs. Don't spoil a good season by posting internal politics on a public forum. Leave that to the government. Enjoy the summer and get ready to top the next league. Best wishes from sunny Devon

as an interested onlooker I have to ask why would anyone be motivated to play well under someone who resorts to such playground methods of conflict resolution (a conflict which in itself seems rather narcissistic). Surely it would have been better to quietly keep your head down, motivate the troops, get the results and win captaincy elections by a landslide than to shout so loudly in such a public way and generate so much ill feeling and bitterness - hardly inspiring is it, whichever side of the fence you are on?

Ben....having played for you several times this season, I feel it a great shame that you have chosen to stand-down next season. I have to say operationally I have been very impressed with your management of the 2nd team however I do feel there is a great void between the 1st and 2nd teams which is not great for the club and needs to be addressed. This is not solely your doing however I do suggest that there is work to be done which will benefit all. I personally believe that the best outcome for the club is a joint captaincy between yourself and Ian Seabrook. You have both expressed interest in the position and offer very different competencies, be that on and off field. With respect Ben, you're not playing week in week out and together you and Ian could cover many angles and fit in well with the greater club ambition. There is no place for petulancy at Manor Park, so lets pull together and do what is best for our club.

Stenna, Due to a few personal reasons i have decided not to run for 2nd team captain. I have already informed Jeff of my decision. I also feel this is the best decision for the club as we dont need to be divided. Whoever lost a vote wouldnt be happy and neither would the people who voted for that person. Something Norfy said to me got me thinking and i decided this was whats best. I still feel i would be the best candidate but understand i dont fit into your plans. Iam convinced i would win in a vote but there is no point if its going to cause friction. I have no doubt Ian will act in the best interests of the club and i will forward all contact details to him. I do suggest however you go talk to the guys who play 2nd team and enjoy 2nd team rugby. I think youve totally ignored them in all of this. Not everybody wants to play 1st team rugby and instead of pointing the finger at me maybe you guys should look at yourselves and ask why this is? As it stands im not certain to play for the club next season. I need to weigh up my options. Ive worked bloody hard to sort out a 2nd team and the way ive been treated is not justified. People speak about me showing people no respect, well wheres my respect? I do what i do because i want to but maybe a few people need to understand that its not easy. Ben

Ben, Just clear this up. I have never said to the 1st XV that the club expects them to vote for Seedy. I did however say (at training) that MY preferred vote would be to have Seedy as 2nd XV captain. You know why this is and what you have to change to make me feel different. The guys that were there have there own opinions. They are old enough and in some cases intelligent enough to make there own minds up. On top of that hey haven't listened to me all season so why would they now!!! So lets leave all this until the AGM when every paid up member of the club has the right to vote on who they want as 2nd XV captain. At least we will see a few more players at the AGM this year. I have read with interest the posts, the nominations sheet went up yesterday. My fault its late no other reason than I have a day job, no motive. The club rules are quite clear if there are two or more people interested in a role then it will be voted on at the AGM by fully paid up members and we will check.

Well another Presentation Day triumph for the whole club I think, even with the weather not exactly on our side. I would personnally like to thank everyone who hepled to make it a fantastic day for everyone. I would particularly like to thank all of you who helped set up the event on the Saturday, made it all happen on the day (cooking, parking, club shop, entertaining etc) and then those that returned today (including hangovers for some) to help clean up and sort out the clubhouse and grounds, your help was invaluable and very much appreciated. I wish I could name you all but there are many of you, and you know who you are, thanks. See you all at club dinner, Dan.
